Memories

I looked for you. But I found some memories.

I.
The memory of you
Is a million million stars
Stabbing a black silk sky.
I wait for day to take away
The stars, the memory
The pain..... Raynette Eitel

II.
I held that memory
For just a second longer.
I held you
Before that memory would vanish away
From my fingertips..... Lulu Muffin

III.
Last night your faded memory came to me
As in the wilderness spring comes quietly,
As, slowly, in the desert moves the breeze,
As to a sick man, without cause, comes peace.

(Raat yun dil mein teri, khoi hui yaad aayee,
Jaise veerane mein, chupke se bahaar aa jaye,
Jaise sehraon mein hole se chale baad-e-nasim,
Jaise beemar ko be wajah qarar aa jaye)…. Faiz Ahmed Faiz

A beautiful collage.

I've been working on this comment for the last 20 minutes. I had a great Arthur Rimbaud quote for you, then I erased it and replaced it with a great line by Rumi. After erasing the Rumi quote, I thought, one can never go wrong with a Shakespeare quote....

And here I am, all I can say is that it is a beautiful collage. Anything else I could say has already been said by people smarter than me.

Trevor Penn 11 November 2008 at 10:16

I can drop my hat and i'd have nothing to say.

I can tip my hat though - for you recognize the genius in these lines.

Would you mind if I thank you on behalf of the three poets, Agnes? For, that is the only thing I can do.

To tell you the truth, it took me at least four days to put them in the right order - right from my point of view - and then write what I wanted to. I can only be grateful to them.

And I can only thank you for reading it with such interest. But I would love to see the lines you wanted to quote.

Good to see you, Crooner. In fact, I had nothing much to say (read write) either. You can see that in the post.
Just nine words of mine.

Such great work!

Howz you doing?

*cheers*

OK -- I'll find them for you.

:-)

Thanks a ton, Agnes. I may have more to share with you soon, if your are interested.

Beautiful pieces Sib!
So you read Faiz too, like me :)

WarmSunshine 12 November 2008 at 02:49

oh and i'm blogrolling you :)

Talking To My Soul 12 November 2008 at 03:06

-->Mehreen

It's my pleasure, lady. I'm so glad you liked them.

To be honest with you, I have found Urdu poetry mesmerizing although my understanding of the language is at best pedestrian. But Faiz is almost divine.

Thank you so much for blog-rolling me, the beautiful one.

*smiles*

WarmSunshine 12 November 2008 at 05:11

It's really good to know you find Urdu poetry interesting :)

Sadly, I'm not very good at interpretations, I'm a techy to the bottom and that's sad!

But hey I'm into fine arts a little bit... check this out:

http://pink-loves-brown.blogspot.com/2008/10/meqi-sketches.html

Hope you like 'em
Oh and yea, the pleasure's all mine! :)

Keshi 12 November 2008 at 07:32

I love the image!

Memories can either be piercing or soothing...either way, we sometimes dun need a reason for peace..it just happens.

Beautifully put!

Keshi.

Trevor Penn 12 November 2008 at 09:38

Try looking for someone lurking in the shadows, you'll find me there. LOL!

I've been swamped - both at work and with a project i'm working on.

How've you been and when are you planning your holiday?

Talking To My Soul 12 November 2008 at 16:56

-->Mehreen

All I can say about the sketches is WOW! I'm not equipped to analyse it - thanks to my limited (read, no) knowledge - but the sketches are lovely.

Yes, I can be an enthusiastic reader of Urdu poetry. From Ahmed Faraz to Gulzar though my understanding of their interpretation is feeble. You can keep me posted.

Thank you so much for those lovely words, techie Mehreen. What are you into?

*smiles*

"Memories can either be piercing or soothing...either way, we sometimes dun need a reason for peace..it just happens."

I guess, you have left me with no words at all. All I can only say is "great."

In fact, I am waiting for Agnes to come back with some great lines.

It's always a pleasure to see you here, Kesh.

Very well said, Crooner.

One who is in the shadows is always with you, right Trevor?

My holiday plans are up in smoke, I think. I have no clue. Suggest me a serene place where I can be just by myself. I need a break.

What about you?

*cheers*

Keshi 13 November 2008 at 12:31

hehe I was only repeating wut u wrote, in a different way tho :) so ur the one who's GREAT, not me.

Keshi.

Tell you something, Kesh? It's all about how one says it. And, let me tell you that you do it in a great way. No debate on that, what say!

How'z you doing? You sound so low in spirit these days, dont you?

*smilez*

Trevor Penn 13 November 2008 at 15:57

True that, Soul.

I know how you feel. I'm off to the Andamans in Jan. You should head to some place similiar.

WarmSunshine 13 November 2008 at 16:38

Emmm I'm into IT

Though it gets boring sometimes, but that's what I love! :)

Talking To My Soul 13 November 2008 at 17:43

-->Trevor

Ho! Hum! Andamans is a great idea but I need to check my schedules too. How about the Silent Valley in Kerela?

Do lend me from your experience. Will be glad to know.

It has been a hectic life and for far too long, I guess.

*cheers*

Talking To My Soul 13 November 2008 at 17:50

IT....Hmmmm. Why does it get boring? Because you have to deal with all programming stuff or what? But that is the order of the day, ain't it? Why not get into the gaming software designs and put your great sense of creativity to use? Just a thought.

Thanks for dropping in again, lady.

*smiles*

Keshi 14 November 2008 at 07:57

hey nah Im not sad...just need a break from alot of stress here in Blogville. I need to be alone for awhile...to u'stand wut this is all abt. :)

Keshi.

Anonymous 14 November 2008 at 08:11

Yes, I'm interested.

Did you change your site's design? It's so beautiful. Being a traveler at heart, i love maps, even though I never use them :-)

Talking To My Soul 14 November 2008 at 13:17

-->Keshi

It's darn good to know that your are not low.

But it's necessary to stand away from the crowd for a while to be able to assess and understand yourself. Must not miss that opportunity. Try staying disconnected completely - without cell phones and internet et al. It can at times be threateningly lonely but also be surprisingly serene. So do that.

Meet yourself, talk to your soul and come back. I am sure, people wait for you here.

*smilez*

Yes, Agnes. I changed my template. It is good, aint it? I would like to believe it suits my blog.

Thanks for the appreciation.

Yes, I have some great lines to share with you. Will do that soon.

I consider memories to be more than a link to the past because at times, they are all we have. Siba, memories may be good or bad, but to make most of the past, one has to probably look at things that went wrong, and to keep oneself cheerful, often look at the happy days, taking screenshots of the better glimpses that the past presents.

Cheers.

Someone had famously said: I threw a pebble into the water. Ripples came back.

Memories are like ripples.

Thanks for reading the post.

beautiful pieces.. i believe memories are a part of our life which makes us stronger because it has a lot of emotions put into them.

Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

You're right. Memories are like pillars which support the life's structure.

Nice meeting you here, Lena. Keep coming back.

Yes, I do like the layout very much. And I agree it suits your words. The whole theme reminds me of traveling.

I like the future more than I care about the past.

I still owe you some quotes.

Diana Sahu 15 November 2008 at 08:54

I had infact read the post a thousand times but like Agnes, even I take a lot of time to think and comment on ur posts....

Talking To My Soul 15 November 2008 at 12:11

Thank you, Agnes. I switched to this skin (read template) because it gave me the feel of a traveler. To me, the entire life is a road and we all are making a journey. Travellers we are.

Once again thanks and don't forget my quotes.

Thanks, lady. You just made me feel as if I am Nietzsche. Tell you what? I am just another blogger, learning the ways from people like you.

My thanks once again for stopping by everytime.

Trevor Penn 15 November 2008 at 13:24

Love the new skin. I was losing my eyes with your old template.

The likening of memories to ripples was spot on. Kudos.

WarmSunshine 15 November 2008 at 14:24

Well... I have a very crazy philosophy about it, hope i am successful in conveying it correctly :P

it's like this: fine arts is something very close to me, although i didn't pursue it, it's something i'll always love to get my hands into, even when i become a granny with glasses and can barely see hehe! Apart from that, i loved the old English literature. So you're gonna say... where doesn /it come from???? Well it came out of nowhere... but the part i loved it for is, look how's it practically driving the whole world here and there... can you imagine a world suddenly without computers??? At least i can't :) So now, it's kinda invincible isn't it??? it's used everywhere now and can fit to help ppl regardless of their field :)

now it becomes boring cz... well.. (this will sound crazy) for me it gets a little too materialistic at times. I wanna be connected to myself more, and i always wanna keep in mind the real simplicity of life that God created... emmm putting it another way... for me the life that God made was analog, we're just digitizing it... and me? i'm an analog person at heart, right to my core... but my worldly-human part makes me able to understand and now "program" the digital part too... but my ideal life would be a place with magnificent landscapes like the ones we see in the "Hiedi" novel :D Simple, simple life... keeping God always in our conscious and all

Was this crazy??? i won't be surprised if you find it so... cz i'm just a little crazy, wild girl hehe
do let me know :)

take care!

Talking To My Soul 15 November 2008 at 15:42

I know, Crooner. The last skin kept me on the tenterhooks. So I decided to let it go off the hook.

This one is easier and simple too.

Thanks for all the good words, mate.

*cheers*

Talking To My Soul 15 November 2008 at 15:50

-->Mehreen

I got your point. That's very much in the second paragraph when you see yourself as the Granny barely able to see but still putting those shiny and wrinkled (wrinkles show great art and character) hands to the canvas.

That was more like a "worldly wise" Mehreen speaking. Don't let go of that analog person in you that God created. A bit of digitisation - so long as it makes life easier - is always welcome.

I loved the philosophy, lady.

Hi

Yes i noticed you changed your blog's template :)

It's a nice one and I see you have these gadgets on too... good work :)

Talking To My Soul 17 November 2008 at 04:09

-->Mehreen,

Hi. Yes, I found my last skin a tad difficult to manage. It too used to change skins on different browsers. Ha! Ha!

This one's straight and simple too. Gives a traveller's look, I guess.

And, I got my music on too.

Thanks for dropping by, Mehreen.

*smiles*

Siba...Did u by any chance tell SN what I had written about him on my comment page? Coz he refused to check my story unless I wrote an apology!!!!

Unknown 17 November 2008 at 23:54

Hmmm... So `talking to my soul' has got a makeover. This looks better and brighter than the earlier one. Good work. As for the post, well the poetry has to touch one's heart, coming from such greats. And it also sums up your nocturnal self.

Talking To My Soul 18 November 2008 at 02:55

-->Soni

You took soooooooo long, dear. But knowing your schedule of late, I will spare you.

Great that you dropped in, Soni. I value that immensely.

You are right. The poets are great ones. Faiz, to be particular. They made this ordinary post look nice. Besides, of course, saying what I, normally, can not.

About my nocturnal self, I survive the day so that I can live the night.

Thank again.
