the long search

When you have nowhere to go, go back to yourself.

To Her

Love

I.

Until I loved you,

I wrote verse, drew pictures,

And went out with friends

For walks…

Now that I love you,

Curled like an old mongrel

My life lies content

In you…

Freedom

II.

You planned to tame a swallow, to hold her

In the long summer of your love so that she would forget

Not the raw seasons alone, and homes left behind, but

Also her nature, the urge to fly, and the endless

Pathways of the sky…

To love. To freedom. To women.

To Madhavi Kutty.

To Kamala Das Suraiya. In her words. RIP (March 31, 1934-May 31, 2009)

Yes Kesh, that was to WOMEN. For they are the best.

Kamala Das was one of modern India's finest poets. One who challenged the orthodox and took on the male bastion fearlessly. She wrote under the pen name of Madhavi Kutty too. Google Kamala Das and you will find how her words packed so much fire.

You have such a refined taste for poetry :)

When are you gonna start writing your own?

Talking To My Soul 9 June 2009 at 11:59

-->Mehreen

Welcome back, Mehreen.

Thanks for the generous words. But I hardly understand poetry. Just a passion I cant explain myself. And so far as writing myself is concerned, I am not that good at it. Have tried a couple on this blog, have not I?

Thanks for returning.

A befitting tribute, Soul.

Talking To My Soul 21 June 2009 at 14:57

You did good. Blogville dramas must find another place to thrive. Your place is too good for all this. Let the dramas go elsewhere.

We want Kesh unadulterated. Now and always.
