Single. Footloose and fancy-free. Ah! I am so familiar with these words. I have often been accused of, panned out, trashed, dismissed and sometimes envied too for being these three. You know what! If I were a blog post, the trio would have been my “tags.”
Hold it a second! Did you say footloose? Is not that supposed to be a compliment? Reminds me of a great line.
“It should not be denied that being footloose has always exhilarated us. It is associated in our minds with escape from history and oppression and law and irksome obligations. Absolute freedom.”
What say!!

Every coin has two sides.
Nice.
Btw, how can one be single, footloose or fancy-free with "tags." Aren't tags like chains restricting your degrees of freedom? ;-)
"It took me a long time and most of the world to learn what I know about love and fate and the choices we make, but the heart of it came to me in an instant, while I was chained to a wall and being tortured. I realized, somehow, through the screaming in my mind, that even in that shackled, bloody helplessness, I was free: free to hate the men who were torturing me, or to forgive them. It doesn't sound like much, I know. But in the flinch and bite of the chain, when it's all you've got, that freedom is a universe of possibility. And the choice you make, between hating and forgiving, can become the story of your life."
Gregory David Roberts (Shantaram)
Your post reminded me of this.
-->YICA
True. I guess, I am looking at the right one.
Thanks for coming back.
*cheers*
-->Trevor
I would beg to differ. Freedom, as I see, is in the mind. Tags or no tags. Nothing can chain or restrict it.
Thanks, Crooner. :)
*cheers*
-->Agnes
That's the best comment I have received yet. Profound. Just profound. Like I was telling Trevor freedom is in the mind and nothing can chain it.
I felt honoured. Thanks, Agnes. Thank you so much.
*cheers*
I agree...freedom is a state of mind. And of course, everyone envies absolute freedom. :)
-->Vagabond
I can see I have company, dear. Am glad. And I completely agree that everyone envies absolute freedom. But why is the question.
Thanks for reading.
*cheers*
Single, footloose and free...U love ur life...isn't it?
I so want these three things in my life back!!
-->Di
I love my life or not? What does the post suggest?
So far as yours is considered, decide what you want. That's more important. Most important, in fact. Then you will know how to go about it.
Thanks, Di.
*cheers*
I agree with u 100%! Im loving my life just like that too :)
And I believe everyone has their own definition of FREEDOM...but those who dont force their definition on others r the truly FREE.
Keshi.
"Freedom"... you know well this word only leave me thinking harder and harder.
I don't know what else to say...
-->Keshi
How lovely! That's such a beautiful perspective and so true.
I am sure you are enjoying your life to the hilt now. Let me say Keshi is footloose and fancy-free.
Thanks, lady. Howz you doing?
*smilez*
-->Mehreen
It's there in you and there will come a day when you discover it. Remember to tell me then.
Besides, the soul is always free. Is not it, Sunshine girl?
God bless you.
I am happy the political tension has eased up a little in Lahore.
*smiles*
Single. Footloose and fancy-free
ahhh a great way to lead life :) ..
-->Charmed One
I bet it's a great life to lead. I'm gung ho about it.
*cheers*
in one of my old poems i had questioned thus ..
you say i am born FREE,
then you say I live in a SOCIETY ...
to be defiant , to be unconventional , to look at the world in your own way and to live a life free from "What ppl will say" factor ... isnt it a great feeling ???
-->Sid
It is. I believe one can be free in society. One does not have to be in the wild to be free. To me, it largely depends on how much freedom we have allowed to others.
Thanks, mate. It's good to have you here.
*cheers*
bingo .. yes thats exactly what i believe .. and the lines were sarcastic in their tone ...
i can be free in a society .. but when u say society there are rules .. but then there should be a flexibility in these rules which provide space for individuals who are different from each other, something which i feel is lacking today ..
:)
-->Sid
Right. Spot on. Space for everybody.
Thanks, man. Thanks a ton.
*cheers*
Oh, great post on Freedom.
I'm very much in agreement with you and I have to metion I was so happy to read Keshi's comment about her loving her life...
And her comment about freedom is spot on!
You know Keshi & I think very much alike.
I guess that is why we have formed a bond together.
Thanks for your posts...they are always very enlightening!
Margie
Dear Soul,
To be free, for me, is to be one with spirit in the now.
Namaste,
Sherry
aaah...i remember those times...but then yet again...its all in the mind..isnt it?
-->Margie
You are right. I too was very happy reading Keshi. Good to know she is enjoying it now. And I know you and she form a "formidable" duo.
Thank you so much. Glad to know you liked the post, Margie.
*cheers*
-->Sherry
Your perspective always amazes me, I must say. It's a pleasure to have you here.
Thank you, Sherry. Have a good trip.
*cheers*
-->Ekta
You are right. Sometimes we wish..Then you are right again. It's in the mind. Isnt it?
Thanks, Ekta. Welcome to my blog. Pleasure to see you here.
*cheers*
Sid beat me to it. ;) Anyway, coming to what I wanna say - freedom isn't quite free, is it?
Freedom from something is not the same thing as freedom for something. Period.
See you around...
Peace.
---
Yes, it was indeed a pleasure conversing with you on fb the other day...
you didn't go in depth about fancy-free!!
-->Kartz
Well taken. Freedom from something is not freedom for something. And yes, nobody is quite free as we would like to believe.
But I would like to believe I am footloose. :D
Being footloose, for me, is allowing others freedom which I guess is the first step towards attaining it.
Thanks, Kartz, for returning. A ton of thanks.
*cheers*
-->Moi
I have stayed away from commitments as yet. Scary, eh! Not that I deny responsibilities.
Does it say anything?
Thanks, Moi.
*cheers*

*cheers*
So Im bak :)
Keshi.
-->Keshi
I am so relieved, Kesh. And so absolutely glad and happy today. Thanks.
Made my day.
*smilez*
freedom does not require tags.. there is nothing like the freedom of speech or the freedom of actions like many think.. there is rather the freedom of thoughts and the freedom of making your own decisions and following them... no politics can chain us unless we let our minds and hearts be chained.
But i dont believe in absolute freedom, or rather dont want absolute freedom for myself. In the end absolute freedom leads to loneliness.
-->Lena
Thanks, lady.
Heyyy, I would like to differ with you on many counts but that's not the issue. It's what I agree with. Yes, nothing can chain us unless we let our minds and thoughts to be chained. You are right.
About absolute freedom, does it lead to loneliness? Then, are not we all lonely? Lonely at the end!!
*cheers*
i dont know anyone absolutely free, as well as i dont know anyone absolutely lonely.. hope it answered your question :)
-->Lena
Yes, it did. Thanks, Lena.
Thanks for arriving.
*cheers*
free!!! i yearn for my share!!
Where r u these days?
Keshi.

-->Renaye
Heyy hi. You will have your share. Sooner than later. But you need to work for it. We all do.
Thanks for reading.
*cheers*

But six weeks! I mean, does it take so much time to fix the flooding???
*cheers*
-->Keshi

I will be back soon. Sooner than later, I swear.
*smilez*
Oh yes, Soul. We basically have no walls and no ceiling , all gone -- major damage. But it's OK, really, everybody is fine and that's what matters :-)
Hope you're posting soon :-)
-->Agnes
Oh! God. No walls, no ceiling. Was it like dangerous, the flooding?? You and Geoff take care.
Yes, I am back, lady. Just posted.
*cheers*
A Canadian alternative film came out earlier this year called One week. Its about a man who learns he has cancer and is given a short time to live. He chooses to go on a motorcycle trip from central Canada to the western coast. It is a memorable spiritual journey that differs greatly from the classic motorcycle Diaries through parts of South America. You may enjoy both stories. Life is full of surprises. Physical existence is never what one assumes.
